Dr. David Oliver
David A. Oliver has served as the senior pastor of Ashley Baptist Church in Belding, Michigan since 1994. During his tenure, Ashley Baptist Church has experienced significant growth and has gone through two major building programs. Prior to being a pastor, Dave traveled extensively for several years as an evangelist, preaching in churches, conferences, camps, college chapels, and youth meetings.
Born in New York in 1964, Dave grew up in Michigan, in the Detroit suburb of Birmingham. He trusted Christ as his Savior while a high school teenager as the result of reading a gospel tract. Soon after, he surrendered his life to preach, and sought to prepare for the ministry by studying at Bob Jones University, earning both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. After entering the ministry, he continued his education earning a doctorate in Pastoral Theology.
In addition to pastoring, Dave’s leadership positions include member of the board of trustees of the Independent Fundamental Baptist Fellowship of Michigan (Camp CoBeAc), president of the board of directors of Proclaiming the Truth Inc. (Neighborhood Bible Time), and member of the executive committee of the board of trustees for Maranatha Baptist University. Since 1996 he has served as chaplain of two west Michigan fire departments. Dave is heard on the weekly radio broadcast, Glorify the Lord. His articles are frequently published on Proclaim and Defend, the weblog of the Foundations Baptist Fellowship International. He also writes a column for a local newspaper. He and his wife Penny have been married since 1987 and have three children and three grandchildren.
